Elimination diet recipes - Morning gruel

Morning gruel (1 serving)

Simple, quick, filling, and nutritious. It’s a convenient breakfast if you are on the go for work. Currants are the dried fruit pictured in the version above.

Ingredients:

½ cup buckwheat bulgur

1 cup water

salt to taste

1 tablespoon flax seeds

¼ cup dried fruit (cranberries, raisins, apricots) and/or 1 banana, sliced

1 teaspoon maple syrup

Preparation:

Put bulgur and water in a small pot, bring to a boil and then turn heat off and leave covered for about 10 minutes. Then mix in remaining ingredients and enjoy (you can add rice milk and eat cold, or reheat).
